Details
First minted in 1986, the American Gold Eagle is the first official gold bullion coin of the United States. The design featured on the obverse of the coin was originally designed by August Saint Gaudens for the 1907-1933 $20 Double Eagle gold coin; considered the most beautiful U.S. coin ever minted. On the reverse of the coin is featured a nest of American eagles, this signifies the strength and security of American families. The American Gold Eagle is one of the most popular bullion coins because it is easily recognizable, highly liquid, and holds a legal tender amount of $50. Although the nominal amount of $50 is largely symbolic, it gives many investors ease of mind to know that they possess a coin that has been minted and guaranteed authentic by the U.S. Government.
The Proof American Gold Eagle comes in 1 Oz., ½ Oz., ¼ Oz., and 1/10 Oz. denominations. American Gold Eagles are minted in 22k purity (91.67% pure gold), and weigh 1.0909 Troy Ounces (33.931 grams).
Proof American Gold Eagles are eligible for precious metals IRAs as well. Please contact an Account Executive at 877.505.2646 to discuss the possibility of including this magnificent gold coin in your physical precious metals investment portfolio.
